Project Description

The client, an energy company operating a small-scale power generation unit, required a SCADA system to monitor and control distributed generators, transformers, and safety systems remotely.

Challenge

The power plant lacked a centralized monitoring and control system, relying heavily on manual readings and mechanical switches. This made it difficult to detect faults promptly, maintain safety standards, and manage energy distribution efficiently.

Ways of working

We began by mapping all critical control points and identifying gaps in visibility across the plant. Our approach involved close collaboration with the client’s technical team to design a custom SCADA solution, prioritize safety features, and implement seamless communication between PLCs, sensors, and the new interface all while maintaining system uptime during deployment.

Process

This project started with comprehensive mapping of all electrical and mechanical data points across the plant. We designed a real-time SCADA interface, implemented secure industrial communication protocols, and installed system interlocks. Final steps included testing, alert configuration, and real-time performance validation under load conditions.

Identified all points requiring digital monitoring including voltage, current, temperature, breaker states, and alarms.

SCADA Interface Design

Created a unified dashboard showing live grid status, alarms, system logs, and real-time analytics.

Implementation & Safety Protocols

Integrated interlocks for overload, undervoltage, and isolation events, ensuring fast fail-safes.

Solution

The integrated SCADA system gave operators full visibility and control over power generation units, alarms, and safety systems from a single interface. Real-time monitoring, remote fault alerts, and historical data logging greatly enhanced operational reliability and energy system management.

  • Remote control and monitoring of generators, relays, and breakers

  • Real-time fault detection and automatic email alert system

  • Historical data logging for performance review and maintenance planning

Results

The SCADA integration reduced fault response time by 70% and enhanced plant safety through real-time monitoring and automatic alerts. Operators benefited from centralized control, while management gained access to actionable data and historical performance trends.

  • Reduced fault response time by 70%

  • Enhanced visibility and control over plant operations

  • Improved safety and compliance with local electrical codes
